History of Godfrey Bros. Meats
In 1936 brothers, Jacob, Benjamin, and Walter Godfrey started a butchering operation. This operation was named Godfrey Bros. and was located in a rural setting near Winterstown, PA. Godfrey Bros. started out with custom slaughtering and sold meat in the shop and with trucks. In 1956 the first store front was purchased in Dallastown, PA. By the early 1970's Godfrey Bros. had outgrown their original facility and they decided to build a larger facility for business. In 1973 Godfrey Bros. moved to the storefront you visit today on Susquehanna Trail South. In 1984 Godfrey Bros. expanded business with a market stand at the New Eastern Market in York, PA. where we still have a stand today.
In 1998 Godfrey Bros. was purchased by Lee (Chip) and Pauline Godfrey, maintaining the family legacy within the business.
